Hey everybody!
This is Christopher and here is the first entry of the new monthly newsletters from Austin portrait photography, Definitive Images. We want to keep everyone informed and up to date on happenings within the company. Right off the bat, those of you who are returning visitors may notice the new look to the blog. Again. (more on that in a bit)
2009 has been the year of expansion and re-branding for us. As far as the brand, while several design cues have been retained, I have been working hard on the polish. Despite past attempts at trendier or flashier badging*(not sure if that’s a word actually) I always seem to come back to the style and font of our original logo. Which is great because we don’t have to reorder company shirts.
Our “glogo” up in the top right corner is about as flashy as I am comfortable with and accurately reflects my sensibilities and those of Definitive Images. The website is a work in progress but is coming along nicely. Opting to go with a collection based portfolios has allowed us to categorize our diverse body of work into a manageable system that can be navigated easily by prospective clients. Plus, we have a lot of photos that we wanna share and the collection system works better than jamming them all into a handful of galleries. I am in the process of preparing several new collections to be released this month. We have also added session details and pricing right into the website so you can see exactly what we offer.
The blog has changed a lot since it was launched this past January. The newest design is easier to navigate and has a cleaner and more professional finish than I have been able to pump out of the old design. Important information and articles have been added to the info tab for quicker access. The new comment section is less of an eye sore. Blog pages load much faster. I am finishing up a new form that will be added for scheduling portrait sessions with less hassle. A link to all parts of the Definitive Images network are conveniently located in the new footer at the very bottom of the page. I am very happy with our blog and will continue to refine it to better suit our visitors.
The amount of web traffic we have attracted is great and I am happy to see that people enjoy visiting regularly and am going to make a big effort to pump out new content much more frequently. I have paid particular attention to who has been visiting and where they are coming from and it seems we have a good number of photographers viewing our blog, and I love that. To better cater to that substantial audience of photographers, I will include technical details and other process related tidbits at the bottom of each blog post. And eventually that traffic can be diverted to new blog for photographers at www.wannabephotographer.com.
WannabePhotographer.com is a side project for tips, techniques, interviews and info for photographers and will be the new home of the Photo Trek workshops. Check it out for more details and look here for an official launch announcement this summer.
We have worked hard at expanding, and you can find additional news, announcements and updates from Definitive Images on our Facebook and Myspace. Yes, we have a twitter as well but I have had the darnedest time keeping up with it. But check them all out and connect to us. Right now, facebook users who have become a fan of our Facebook page can save 15% off “The Scene” portrait sessions in May. Incentives like that will be pretty random and sporadic so keep your eyes peeled.
So… that’s about it for now.
